iWeb FAQ - Themes and Templates

How can I create my own templates or themes? Every time I want to add an entry to my blog I have to edit “Evan’s blog” to the name of my blog, change the images and so on. How can I change this? Where can I find more templates for iWeb?

Chapter 1: How can I create my own templates or themes?

I’m not into iWeb that much but have a look at the 11Mystics Blog especially this entry.

The easiest way however is to take a Blank white or black template.

To that template you can add your images and strokes. You can play around a bit with shapes. You can change the background color (also using gradient fill), the browser color or you can also use images as backgrounds (not recommended as it makes the page heavy and slow to load).

Look through the other themes and search for nice objects, copy&paste them to your page.

Also have a look at the iWork FAQ for creating themes with Pages.

With this technique you can really create amazing themes by yourself. And you can have it exactly the way you wanted it to. That’s how I made the iWebFAQ Template, isn’t it great? I love it! I always wanted this kind of light-metallic look.

Once you built your theme and you’re happy with the look of the page all you need to do if you want to add another page with the same look is duplicate your modified page: select the page and hit Command(Apple)+d. Now you just modify the main TextBox, all the other stuff stays the way it is. That’s the way I do it when I add a new FAQ to this site. It really saves a lot of time!

Play around, Have fun, Experiment, Be creative...

Of course you can also personalize the Navigation Bar building your own as described in the Navigation Menu FAQ.

What I do is always duplicate the previous entry and then edit the copy of the previous post. Doing so you only have to change the text and you don't have to change all the things you're changing every time you add a new entry now.

Just select the previous entry in the entries page of the blog and hit Command(Apple)+d

That makes life easier...

Chapter 3: Where can I find more templates for iWeb?
