Hi All-

I have spent a considerable amount of time redesigning my website in iWeb. It looks fantastic in iWeb--the links are changing colors when I roll over, all the fonts are loading, things are lined up correctly--but when I publish to a folder and view it with both Firefox and Safari, the rollover links don't change colors, the files don't open in new windows, the alignment is off and some of the fonts don't load.

I've uploaded some images so you can see what I'm talking about. Of note, one of the sub-pages I loaded works perfectly and looks great. What am I doing wrong???

Thanks,

Alec

Hi Alec,

I'm sorry but I don't think I can help you on that (nor anyone at the Apple iWeb Discussion Forums would be able to help I guess...).

I experienced the problem with formatting too on a page some time ago. The only solution I found back then was rebuilding the page from scratch. That's what I did:

Copy the text, put it in a Word document and Format it to "Normal" so all the formatting and linking will be gone (kind of a reset). Get back to iWeb delete the page which was causing troubles. Add a new page and paste in the text and reapply the formatting (bold, cursive, linking, whatever). That's the only thing that worked for me. Some work but at least the page is ok now.

I think iWeb has a problem with memorizing the formatting when you often change it on a page. And rebuilding allows to make it being a cleaner work.

The alignments of TextBoxes is another topic. You'd need to have it looking bad in iWeb so that it comes up right when publishing.

I know that's not a solution and I know that this is not the way it should be working but unfortunately that's the way it works and I can't do anything about it... And I know that it is pretty frustrating since one spends a lot of time building a site... I can just find a way to have it working for me but not to have the application itself working the way it should since I'm just a user and not an iWeb application developer...

Regards,
Cédric

D'oh! Ok, I'll try to rebuild. Thanks for the advice. Your site is fantastic! I've learned a lot from it.

I'm going thru a similar problem. My site looks great in the i web program. When I go to my folder and test in Safari and Firefox the clip art on 5 of my pages is sliding down on top of the text. It happens about half way down the page.

I have anchors that will be set up with mass replace it but I haven't done that yet.

There long pages uggg do I need to rebuild them too?

If something slides downwards (or upwards) when you publish you need to move it upwards (or downwards) in iWeb. So it will look bad in iWeb but it then will be ok after you published (which is more important).

Cédric

THANKS!

I figured that out last night at about midnight lol! The longer the page gets the more the image slides. It's crazy. I'm so glad to hear that I'm not crazy or being picked on by i web. All I have to do is the "mass replace it" and the SEO i web. Wish me luck and thanks for your help.

I'm going to donate right now! I was told by my one to one coach that sales can't be done on i web because I wanted to do a selling site. Is that true?

You Rock!

The sliding-objects-thing is one of the well known issues with iWeb but we can live with it...

The one-to-one coach is right in that iWeb itself has no template to sell stuff. He's also wrong 'cause all you need to do that is a third-party service which you can integrate into your iWeb pages through a simple link or whatever (The Donation button could be seen as a selling-thing, also my HostExcellence links and some other) . PayPal is one of those services. More about it and other services here...

However I'm not a selling-specialist.

Cédric
