I'm new in this forum therefore please apologize for questions that have been already here but I couldn't find the answers. I use iWeb 08 and think you can work extremely intuitive with it.

First: Does iWeb write normal html text when I use shapes or textboxes. When I saw my pages in the browser the text was not scalable. Normally this always works with html text. Afterwards I made a test and switched on the show graphic conversion button in preferences and I saw that many textfields are graphics but I only used Helvetica. Independently of that the other textfields were also not scalable.

Second: The font does not look good in the browser. I know that fonts are changing and have a different look in different browsers but the text looks wider and blurred and makes an unproffessional
impression. I put the text in word and saved it as .txt file and it was still the same problem.

Third: Lines don't have their correct length and position and small objects too. For example watch the small lines underneath the navigation bar.

Fourth: I made an additional navigation bar ( you can see this on the projects page) and hyperlinked the object as well as the text in it. I made an rollover effect with colour change but in the browser you can only see the hand when you touch the object and not the changing of colour when you touch the text.

iWeb does write normal html if you use TextBoxes (unless you apply shadows to the text or use a particular font etc.). Shapes with text in them always get turned into a graphic hence not normal html and search engines can't read it and you can't scale it.



I don't see it blurred. It may look blurred if it's graphic instead of text. Did you apply any shadow to it? Clean your browser cache and reload see if this helps.



As far as I can see the length is alright but the position is slightly off. If you have a lot of objects on the "same" spot iWeb has difficulties generating the code and sometimes moves them around. The only solution is move it in iWeb so that it looks bad in iWeb but when published it looks ok.



I don't see changing colors at all in that menu.

I saw the page. The rollovers were ok, on both navigation bars. I find the page kinda crowded, and it really doesn't need another navigation bar, if it was really tall...

that confirms that iWeb is a great application to make a quick layout for pages but is not the solution for making the real site.

iWeb is a great tool for building personal websites. Websites to be seen by your family and your friends. It's not made for building commercial websites.
