When I first published the iweb site to a folder and viewed in safari it looked fine. I made some changes, saved and republished and it started to change the formatting (eg. photos would change or just be grey boxes, the fonts, colours and sizes of text also changes).

I noticed some faqs suggesting to delete the old pages when republishing so I started doing that. Make my changes, delete the old folders and then republish. That worked most of the time.

Now, I am having the problem on a large scale, all the font sizes have increased, hyperlinks have changed colours etc, so I tested the site in Firefox. The problem only exists in Safari. I haven't managed to test in IE yet...

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is... or what I can do to fix it? The pages look fine in iweb and firefox, they just look odd in Safari.

As of the General Troubleshoot page of my website try this:

Quote:
The changes I made don’t display on the web when published

• If a change doesn't display to you in the browser after you published and uploaded it mostly is because the old version of the page is cached (memorized) by your browser. Thus simply emptying the cache of the browser (Open Safari, choose Safari from the menu and go to Empty Cache) and reloading the page should display the changes.

Thank you... not sure how I missed this one.

This website has been the MOST helpful during my few weeks of using iweb, I don't know what I would have done without it. Thanks again :)

Thank you! This tip saved me from a heart attack. May I suggest changing the name of the thread to: "Why is my site all f*ed up when I publish?" as it'll be easier to find? Maybe even adding it to the FAQs. Would've saved me about an hour of stress, lol.

Hi Christin,

the tip is already on my Troubleshoot FAQ here:
http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Troubleshoot.html

I will add "Why is my site all f*ed up when I publish?" to the FAQ, so people can find it by Googling ;)

My website is not very well organized and the formatting changes all over it and so on... I guess I will rebuild the site from (almost) scratch some day... Anyway if you experience problems head to the not-very-well-organized-Troubleshoot FAQ.

Kind regards and thank you for your comment on this thread,
Cédric
