Making an iWeb page which is heavy on graphics that I've exported from Photoshop and other programs. I'm finding that my page loads slowly, particularly on each of the pictures.

Any idea on which is the best file format for images used in iWeb? Gif? Jpg? does using the "image mask" feature in iWeb '08 make the files that much bigger once they are uploaded?

Thanks
Mike

If it's a photo jpg is better.
If it's a simple graphic use gif.
BETTER: get info and see the size.
Compress jpg's untill they get lousy, and then decompress a little.
Phoptshop or any good software can optimize the graphic.

As noizinum said gif for graphic (since it's lower quality, loading fatser) and photos .jpg.

However iWeb websites are usually slow loading websites since they are full of graphics.

There's an application called WebCrusher. A really good piece of software which I would recommend you. It makes your iWeb created pages much lighter hence loading much faster without seeing any loss of quality in the images and the pages in general. My english version of the iWeb FAQ has a size of 52,1 MB (made of 1765 files), after I run it through WebCrusher the size was 28,1 MB. It saved 24 MB which is about 46% of the original size of the website! This without any noticeable change in its appearance. No noticeable loss in quality of the pictures, ...
If you want to try or buy WebCrusher click here.

Regards,
Cédric

I like .jpg myself, particularly for people. If you are using something with a transparent background then naturally it has to be a .gif. I tried out this website for resizing and optimizing images for web - seems to do a good job
