I am having problems selecting the correct file to search when I want to add the file. I am using mobileMe, and I can see my idisk folder, but the Web subfolder does not have a grey arrow to the left of it, but has a smaller arrow in the folder icon. This means that when I double click on the "web" folder I don't get the subfolders (and hence site folder) but only get the web folder selected. When I search then I get no results. Can anyone help?

Hi,

I don't know. I guess there is some communication problem between the computer and the iDisk. Try try go to Finder, Go, iDisk, My iDisk, then open the Web folder and drag&drop it into MassReplaceIt under Files.

Regards,
Cédric

Great - it worked a treat. Not sure what the communication problem is though - thanks for your help. I am in the process of setting up my site and working through your guide which is saving me a lot of time, but there may be more questions later!

I have another theory on why it didn't work now...

The iDisk you see on your computer is just a copy of the iDisk on the web but it's not always automatically updated/synchronized. As you've probably seen while going through the alternative process of adding the files to Files the iDisk always has to download the list of files and folders first when double-clicking to open a folder on it.

So it probably didn't let you choose the Web folder because it had not synchronized what is inside the Web folder so wouldn't allow you to open it. Always make sure the copy on your computer is updated by visiting as described in the previous post before running MassReplaceIt.

Same topic different question. I have got massreplaceit to work but it does not seem to pick up the same text to find on multiple pages - only the one page. I have put the text on a blank page, which it finds. When I then cut and past to all my other pages, publish and synch the iDisk, it does not pick up the other pages, only the original blank page. Any ideas?

My guess would be this:
Quote:
4. Make sure your TextBox (main TextBox and TextBox with the code in it) don't get converted into graphics by iWeb so don’t format the text to be found by MassReplace so avoid Bold, Italic, Underline, Strike, ...

If you use custom Fonts, thus not Internet Standard Fonts, those text fields will be converted in an image by iWeb to be sure that people see the texts as you chose.

To see which text fields are gonna be turned into images go to File=>Preferences and check the “Show text imaging indicator” box. iWeb is gonna display a yellow picture symbol on the text field. The symbol will not be published to the net.

If you see the yellow picture symbol then that's the cause of the problem and you will have to get rid of it by choosing another font, formatting or whatever.

If that's not it try the other stuff on that page.

Cédric

Can not believe I got replies from you, and so fast! Thanks Cédric! It is 1am here in China but I cannot go asleep with a problem unsolved.
I did not and any idisk. I publish the site to the folder on the desktop.
Maybe there is a language problem? I found this page which seems to be iWeb in Japanese with same problem:

Thanks!

Not all of the files are marked as "Read error".

Hi,

I guess it has something to do with the language, you may want to ask the developers of MassReplaceIt whether their application is compatible with chinese.

Regards,
Cédric

Thanks Cédric!
But my site is in English; and I tried to change the language preference of macbook into English, thus the iweb is now in English, still it says "Read error".
I tried to do exactly you said, make a new site, blank page, textbox with NasaGoesHere (I know I can put down anything but hope NasaGoesHere help :( ), even in Times New Roman font. And I know it is not in graphics format.
I can understand Read error appears after .jpg files because MRI can not do graphics. But I can not understand why it can not read Blank.html?
The most amazing part is that I once had it work. http://www.toultour.com/Tours.html The google translation button was done by MRI, and me, somehow.
