Many thanks for your iweb FAQ which have helped me through publishing my first iweb site www.matthewjay.com using FTP server. One problem which I cannot find resolved in the FAQ is that the URL which is published with the Matthew Jay site is the domain name plus the site name i.e. www.matthewjay.com/MJ
This creates a problem for anyone searching for Matthewjay.com (his previous website) because it is not possible to log on to the site with simply the domain name. I have been unable to delete the site name from the iweb site publishing settings - it just comes up automatically. Please can you resolve this question for me. I would like to publish more sites with only the chosen domain name and at present, this doesn't seem possible.

the standard address of an iWeb website is

yourdomain.com/sitename/pagename.html

nevertheless entering only yourdomain.com redirects you to the first page of the website. So the website works also by entering only yourdomain.com

To remove the /sitename/ part of the URL publish your website to a folder and upload only the content of the folder named after your sitename instead of uploading the index.html file and the sitename-folder.

However be aware that uploading only the content of the sitename-folder may cause you troubles if you use Photo pages, Blogs and Podcast pages since the RSS Feed links are coded to include the sitename-folder in the URL by iWeb. Hence you will probably find them to be not working when uploading only the content of the sitename-folder.
