Hello iWeb FAQ administrator and users.

Please help, I have created a website in iweb: http://www.rajwest.net I like other users was not happy with the rigidity of the navigation menu so I created my own using instructions found here. For the most part it has worked, but I do have two problems and they are pretty anoying ones I would like to sort out. The first is that I would like the text color of the page that I am on to change to match the site name to make it clear where you are in the site. IE the site name always appears in white and the links to different pages are blue. I would like the title of the page you actually are on to be white. I formated each page individually in iWeb to look like this and publish the site...but it seems that the css built into iweb has over written all my work. When I preview in iWeb it is how I want it to look, but on the web all of the links in the nav bar are blue. Well not all of them.

Which leads to the second problem. On two pages only the Sceongraphy page and the Design page, the link to the Photography page is in a different color purple (the visited link color) it also for some reason appears to be in a slightly smaller font!

I have even edited the pages which I published to the local folder with Dreamweaver and changed the css and page properties for link colors and still the problem persists.

Thanks for your patients and the time to read and hopefully respond.

Raj

Hi Raj,

changing link styles and styles in general within a TextBox should be avoided. iWeb often gets confused and displays the fonts in a wrong way once published. It's iWeb an easy to use application to build websites and not a professional web-editor, I guess there are some things you have to deal with when using such an application.

I guess you will have to delete the TextBox with the menu and start again. This time:
1. Add a TextBox
2. Write all the names of the pages in white (change the color only once for all at the beginning)
3. Make the first link and apply the styles, I would recommend you to have Visited and NOrmal set to the same color and once you applied the settings for the first link hit "Use For New Links On Page" then add all the other links as well
4. Once you built all the links copy and paste the TextBox to all other pages
5. On the pages you are on uncheck the "Enable as a hyperlink" box of the appropriate link and the text will be white and not a link (no link is needed to a page you are already on)

This reduces the amount of styles changes to a minimum and hence should work.

If that doesn't work either I don't know. Call Apple and tell them to fix the application. It would be about time.

Regards,
Cédric
