Hi All,
I apologise if this topic has been talked about in the site but I have been looking for it but can't find it anywhere.

I am building a website with video clips and converted the files into .swf format and they work fine in iWeb and safari but not working in either Firefox or IE.

I found the below code online:

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
codebase="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0"
width="550" height="400" align="middle">
<param name="movie" value="http://web.mac.com/yourdotmacname/flash/myflashfile.swf">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always">
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" width="550" height="400" align="middle"
src="http://web.mac.com/yourdotmacname/flash/myflashfile.swf" allowScriptAccess="always">
</embed>
</object>

Is there some other code which I use or any simple instructions on how to do this? Or can you recommend any other video format which I can use on iWeb which can be seen on all browsers? I have tried mp4 and quick time and the all require the browser to download the relevent plugins.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Dan

Hi,

I don't think I can help you without a link to the page causing problems.

What did you use to convert it to .swf?

Regards,
Cédric

Hi Cédric,

The link to the site is

http://myvoxsongs.com/MyVoxSongs/Baa_Ba ... Sheep.html

or

http://myvoxsongs.com/MyVoxSongs/Cartoons.html

I used AVS Video Convertor to convert the file.

Thanks,

Dan

links to a m4v file not to a swf file and so do the other (which unfortunately is not of help to find the problem, I'd need a link to a page with swf)

Which is not found maybe because of the spaces. You should avoid spaces in the name of media files you upload to the web. You better replace them with underscore _

Maybe that's also the problem with your swf files (I can't tell since I didn't see any...)

I have just added the file I had before and here is the link please take a look.

http://myvoxsongs.com/MyVoxSongs/Related_Links.html

Its just covering the a part of the page. It works fine in iWeb as soon as I publish it I can't see it.

What software do you recommend I use to convert quicktime files into flash?

Thanks,

Of course it doesn't work. It searches for the file on your computer:

http://myvoxsongs.com/Users/Ambreen/Des ... winkle.swf

First you should rename Twinkle%20Twinkle.swf to Twinkle_Twinkle.swf

Make a new folder called "flash" and put the file into it.

Upload the folder to your server (or iDisk/Web/Sites/ folder) so the URL to the file will be
http://myvoxsongs.com/flash/Twinkle_Twinkle.swf

and that's what you should put into the code you mentioned in the first post (in theory).

Regards,
Cédric
