Ain't that all described in my Google FAQ on my website? Yes it is. Read it.

I checked the faq google verification stuff, but I can not find the steps I need to take to actually do this... I have gone on to google and onto their business solutions.. I get confused as to which way I should go from there. This is not something I have ever done before and am finding my way... Thanks to your help though, I have built a shopping cart which is something I would not have thought I could do Cedric.

If you don't mind being more specific in your reply, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Sian

When you go to Google's "Webmaster tools" you see the following page:

1.tiff [ 164.99 KiB | Viewed 1364 times ]

There's a button "Verify your site" as you see in the picture some of my domains.
Click on that button and you're taken to this page:

Under "Verification method" choose Upload verification file.
The verification code/number is where I put the red oval.
What you have to do now is create the file with that name (as described step by step in the FAQ), upload it to your site and hit Verify.

I hope that helped.

Regards,
Cédric

Brilliant Cedric.. THANKS.. I did it and I am thrilled. I also bought iMap which made it really easy after I got the verification code.thanks again.

Do you by any chance know a way of making the appearance on the Google search come up as the website name with the brief explanation below?

I did a google search of my website - http://www.londonbrushcompany.com

and what arrived on the page was....

Welcome - 7:28pm
CONTACT shapeimage_4_link_0.
http://www.londonbrushcompany.com/ - Cached - Similar -

I would like it to read

The London Brush Company
Handmade makeup brushes for makeup artists and makeup lovers. Made in England
http://www.londonbrushcompany.com/

Do you know how I do that?

Sian

The London Brush Company => Heading
Handmade makeup brushes for makeup artists and makeup lovers. Made in England => Main text
http://www.londonbrushcompany.com/ =>URL (Web address)

On Google...
Attachment:
Google.jpg
Google.jpg [ 37.35 KiB | Viewed 1354 times ]

The heading is also displayed at the top of the browser window
Attachment:
BrowserWindow.tiff
BrowserWindow.tiff [ 7.1 KiB | Viewed 1354 times ]

On all iWeb themes there is an appropriate TextBox for the heading:
Attachment:
Heading.jpg
Heading.jpg [ 37.46 KiB | Viewed 1354 times ]

And there usually is a TextBox for the Main text too:
Attachment:
MainText.jpg
MainText.jpg [ 57.93 KiB | Viewed 1354 times ]

If there isn't a TextBox for the main text add one.

You get those little yellow text boxes indicating the purpose of a TextBox by moving the mouse pointer over the TextBox (yellow text boxes are called tooltips and are there to help you).

The URL is defined by the sitename (top-left in iWeb) and the pagename (left sided navbar where all pages are listed)

If you deleted the heading textbox you have to rebuild the page, there is no way to add a heading textbox to a page where the orginal one has been deleted. You also need to add a textbox for the content (main text, eg. "Handmade makeup brushes for makeup artists and makeup lovers. Made in England") and make sure it is not turned into an image (there's a note about that at the bottom of my Google FAQ).

Regards,
Cédric
