Please provide a link to the website and to the favicon.

I don't experience any problem viewing your favicon neither in Safari nor in Firefox. It works perfectly on both.

In Safari try to empty the cache (Safari=>Empty Cache) and reload the page.

Cédric

I had done that, previous to initially posting here, and just did it again to no avail, on my safari.. running 10.5.6 and the latest build of safari.. while I believe what you expereinced, I can't help but wonder what is going on with my safari.

thanks

well, seems none of my friends on Safari can view the favicon either. Most of these folks have never been to the site before.

any suggestions?

thanks

well, it is fixed and now shows up in Safari. The key was to take the code and place it right after the </title> tag at the top.

iTweak puts it last just before the ending </head> tag. So, if you are interested, all I did was take the line:

<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="http://web.me.com/username/yourfolder/favicon.ico" />

and cut it. (command and X keys)

Then I did a find for </title> and replaced it with </title><link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="http://web.me.com/ariburgess/icons/favicon3.ico" />

viola! The favicon shows up in both FireFox AND Safari!

note: (the http address represents the place where your favicon icon lives. I named mine "favicon.ico" and put it in a folder, I created, in my Web/Sites folder on my mobile me disk)

Hi,

I'm new to all this and was wondering what the file was that you are editing here to get the favicon icon to show up? I'm guessing you can use textedit as well to change the code?

Cheers

Dave

seems this thread has been heavily edited.... some folks here want you to find the solution to your problem by performing a search using the the solution to your problem...

The file(s) I edited were all the HTML files that I would want to show a favicon. (home page, about me page, etc...)

Sure, you can use TextEdit to do this, but I am pretty sure that you have to change the prefs in TextEdit to open docs as "plain text" first.
