You wrote (for iweb 08 and 09)-

"The story is a bit different for .pdf files. A lot of people have a plugin in their browser which enables them to read pdf files directly in the browser without downloading them. However not all people have it. So if you want the download to start when people click on a text link or an image link then you will have to make a zip file. If you don’t zip it it will open in the browser or download (depending on whether they have the plugin or not)."

and-

"Note for PDF files: You could also link directly to the pdf file without zipping it (using link to 'a file'). Then the pdf would open in the browser and not start downloading. People could then right-click on the link and then "Download linked file as".
So you have to choose whether you want the download starting automatically or not."

So just to be clear this means that if some one has the plug in and the pdf file is not zipped it will display in the browser when clicked and needs to be right clicked to be downloaded but if the pdf file is zipped it will automatically download when clicked if someone has the plug in or if they don't have the plug in . Is that correct?
What if the pdf file is not zipped and someone does not have the plug in?

If the file is not a pdf file (like a word file) and it is zipped it will automatically start downloading for everybody when clicked. Is that correct?

What if you link directly to a non-pdf file like a Microsoft word file without zipping it? What happens? There are no instruction in iweb to zip the files.

Yes it's correct. I think it's already pretty clear on the page.

Depends on the browser. On some browsers the download starts, on other browser the file is opened in the browser but is not readable at all. The text just looks up as ä䀀√√ª°@Ω¡°Ω@¡°@Ω¡°¬¡°∫ªºååœß∑ß.
