I have followed the instructions regarding drop-down menus from Cedric. Many thanks, I now have a really nice functional horizontal menu, with sub-menus. After running MassReplaceit to replace the generated code from cssmenumaker the menu is fine except for one problem...

When I select a main menu option, the sub-menus disappear behind the text of the paragraph below it. i.e, the body text on the page. I've tried sending objects to the back, and bringing others forward, but no joy. (I've not published the new site as yet so cannot directly show you)

Any help welcome
Robert

Hi Robert,

I can't tell for sure without seeing the page however I think you added the menu in the head part of the page and you may have to place it into the body part of the page for it to work.

In iWeb hit Shift+Cmd(Apple)+L (or go to View=>Show Layout) and you will see that the page is vertically divided into four parts

Head of the page where the iWeb menu displays
Heading of the page where the title is
Body
Footer

Now it's possible that you did put the menu in the head or heading part and where the sub-menus are there's the page-break between head/heading and body which makes it unusable.

Try putting it in the body part. If it already is in the body part then actually having a link to the page would be helpful (maybe).

Regards,
Cédric

Hi Cédric,

Your suggestion worked.
This demonstrates even people with experience can make silly mistakes - so always check the obvious regardless.
This site responded quickly and in-depth.
I will be making a donation.

Kind regards
Robert

Hi Cedric,
I have the same problem. You can see it at www.masonic-antiques.com/mason/aprons.html. The submenu falls behind the object I made . I made sure that the html-code is in the body of the page. (It doesn't happen on the home page: here I used a home page from Iweb, the other pages are just blanks).
Any help is welcome, thanks, luc

I should have started with thanking you for al your effort on the web. No more than 10 day's ago I new nothing of webdesign :) thanks to Iweb and you I think I'm doing fine for the moment, except the above problem :)

If you added a TextBox with text to be replaced with the drop down menu code then select the TextBox ctrl+click on it and choose Bring to front.

Let me know,
Cédric

Cédric,

I did use a text-box (+ massreplacelt). The suggestion you made solved my problem. You're my 'hero of the day', thanks a lot! luc (antwerp, belgium)
