First off this book is amazing. thanks

So I am in the process of learning how to instal a "drop down navigation menu". I am hosting on http://www.godaddy.com and have uploaded the menu i made from http://www.cssmenumaker.com. I uploaded the "menu" folder exactly as instructed into the root folder of my site and it does not show up when i type in http://www.hungrylunchbox.com/menu - instead it goes to an error page. In the instructions in the ebook it says the file or folder should show up.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Hi,

I'm glad you like the book.
You appear to have done everything right since the file shows up under this address:
http://www.hungrylunchbox.com/menu/menu_style.css
as it should.

Regards,
Cédric

haha.. you are amazing! Ok so next question I have now. I have downloaded "massreplaceit" and have done your tutorial on alternative html and using massreplaceit with a site saved to my desktop. Now how do I do that with a site saved to the FTP.. More so is the "file" section of massreplacedit where do i look to put the folder holding the information for the online site? I have tried to put the whole "domain" file from iweb, but that did not work.

And I had done something where links did show up to replace what I had written but they did not show up as they had appeared when I made them in the csmenumaker.

My brain is spinning. This is great though :)

I think where I am getting lost is Section "DROP DOWN MENUS" Step 6 & 7.

Step 6: So when you say publish you site to a folder, i need to then publish the site to a folder on my computer? Ok I am trying this now.

Step 7: "....... “2) Copy and paste the code below to the desired spot in your site” which looks something like this"
***Where exactly do I paste this code? In the Iweb? in the same textbox i wrote MenuGoHere? In a new text box?

You have to publish the site to a folder and drop these published files into Files in MassReplaceIt.
So MassReplaceIt does not hold the published files from the web, it holds the files you published on your computer, you have to upload the MassReplaced files to your server afterwards for them to be on the web.

Step 6 says publish to a folder which means publish to a folder on your computer.

Step 7 says to copy the code from the menu's file where IN THE MENU FILE it says
“2) Copy and paste the code below to the desired spot in your site”
That's what it says IN THE MENU FILE. But since you're following MY instructions you don't care about what the instructions say IN THE MENU FILE. So at this step you just copy the code and don't paste it anywhere.

Step 10 of MY tutorial then tells you what to do with the code you copied in Step 7
"10. In Replace you need to enter the HTML code of the menu you built and downloaded by doing copy&paste as in step 7"

Step 7 copy the code, Step 10 paste the code.

Regards,
Cédric

1) Should the menu show up exactly the way I made it on the published website files on my computer before i upload them to my FTP server?

Because right now they are showing up as text and not the actual menu bar. I read your troubleshoot section about uploading the files correctly to the FTP and I have only uploaded the "menu" file and not the "menu_XXX...etc" file.

2) Also, I host multiple websites from the same hosting account in godaddy. So when I view my domain manager I see the folders for all the websites. "hungrylunchbox", "Brettanewton", "craigsfishing" etc. **Does is make a difference where I put the menu, or should I put it in the corresponding folder to the site?

3) Finally, when I upload the Folder "hungrylunchbox" I have published to my desktop with the files, using filezilla, should I delete the uploaded files that I published from the actual iweb itself that makes up "hungrylunchbox" on the godaddy FTP?

1) No, it displays correctly on the web
2) Folder corresponding to the website is recommended
3) The old files will be overwritten

All the best,
Cédric

Ok i did it.. thank you.. you are amazing. alot of experimenting and messing around.

Please check out www.hungrylunchbox.com and see the navigation bar.

Now, How do I adjust the navigation bar to be bigger? and center it? and get rid of the extra crap on the right?

I live in los angeles, and made a few iweb sites for actors and a few little business's. So i decided to make some money off of it by expanding and making a site. With the tools your book is teaching me it is making my sites more valuable and it's very exciting. I love all the capabilities. Thanks for everything.
