Maybe I misunderstood everything about publishing to a folder, and publishing via FTP with a host......because:

My site went up fine from iWeb, and with the help of the iWebFAQ book, I was able to easily repair some formatting errors and am now quite proficient at 'publishing changes' as a result. But I noted that my URL comes up in the browser address box as <www.50ftketchforsale.com/50ftketchforsale> and I was expecting to see simply <www.50ftketchforsale.com>.

Today I applied to Adsense to place ads in my site, as it's ideal for boaters, containing dozens of references to specific boating equipment, marinas, boat repair issues, etc. And of course, I'm hoping to generate some income from advertising.

But Google refused my Adsense application and I received a simple 'form letter' by email, telling me to use "whole sentences" etc....which is ridiculous, as it is well written, detailed and complete with photo galleries, boat history, boat description, etc., all very professionally written.

So I think something else is wrong (that their web-crawler noted) and it may be that they need to see a "top level domain" not a "sub domain" which is what my URL looks like. Can you enlighten me on this point? Should I have published "from the folder" to the FTP host, and not published a 'second time' from the original iWeb file? Is that my problem?

If this is my problem, what can I do to reverse this mistake?

Hoping to hear from someone who can shed light on this....with thanks,
Bob.

Hi Bob,

you may want to read "What does the URL of an iWeb website-page look like and why?" on page 45 of the E-Book to understand why the URL looks like that.

Anyway I don't think this is your problem. The problem is more that you have no text at all on your first page (entry page) and as described on p. 332 of the E-Book

Quote:
The Navigation Bar of iWeb ʼ08 and iWeb ʼ09 is Javascript rendering so Google and other search engines (and applications for making Sitemaps) canʼt read it and donʼt see what pages your website contains.
The solution is to put a second Navbar at the bottom of the page made by yourself.

Which in your case for Google currently means: no text on the first page and no other page, equals no text at all on your site.

1. Add text on your first page
2. Make a menu which can be read by Google for Google to see the other pages and the text on them (instructions on p. 332-333 of the E-Book)

Regards,
Cédric
