Have looked everywhere for an answer to this question and cannot seem to find it. I currently have 2 iWeb sites, one is an old site that I am trying to replace and the other is new website I have created to replace the old one, hence the 2 sites. My dilemma is that when I try and publish the new site (which has a different site name) it does not replace the old site. I have tried stopping the old site from publishing by changing the publish to: Local Folder and then publishing the new site, no dice. I have also tried replacing domain.sites2 file, still no dice. Fortunately I have done alot of tinkering and my old site is at least still accessible to all, but the new site just wont show up. What am I missing and hopefully this is a really easy problem to fix I'm just not bright enough to get it :). Thank you for your time and I really appreciate any help I can get.

Hi,

Are you using iWeb '08 or '09? How do you publish: MobileMe? Other server? Through iWeb? Through publishing to a folder and upload with another FTP application? These are all infos I would need to have to answer your question.

Anyway what you would have to do is delete the old site from the server (folder of the site and the index.html file outside the folder)

In iWeb go File and choose "Publish Entire Site".

And everything should work.

Regards,
Cédric

I can't distinguish in finder the 2 different sites. I know I'm looking in the wrong place but if you could help me out on which one i should delete that would be great! I really appreciate the quick response by the way!

Go to File and choose to "Publish Entire Site" for the new site. Once it's published visit the site address and you should see the new site.

To delete the old site go to Finder bar, Go, iDisk, My iDisk, Web, Sites and you should find the folder of the old site in that Sites folder which is inside the Web folder (iDisk/Web/Sites/ not iDisk/Sites/)

Regards,
Cédric

I think I can explain better now my issue, bear with me. It does work when I publish the site it does go to an actual web address. However if I google my company name it comes up as the old website and not the new one. Again scared of deleting the old site for fear i wont show up at all anymore on google, but if thats what I need to do to have it replace the old with the new on google than that is what I will do. Also can you explain why it can use the same url for 2 different sites? Again thank you for your patience and hopefully I am making sense.

Got it! I was making it much harder than i should have. For some reason mobile me WAS having issues with relating my site back so that it would show up in google. Easy solution was to just drag and drop pages to the other site and then drag the old pages into another site directly in iweb thus replacing the pages and making everything match back. Not sure if this is making sense but I am banging on all cylinders now :). Thanks for all the help Cedric!

Just for your information you can have as many sites as you want under the same domain since they would all be in different folders

http://yourdomain.com/folder1/
http://yourdomain.com/folder2/
http://yourdomain.com/folder3/
...

Google is not instant if you change a page it takes about 14 days until it is changed in the Google results. If you adda new site it takes about 14 days until it shows up on Google.

Have a nice day,
Cédric
