1. I have two sites: i) a business site for our pharmacy and ii) a personal site with photography, a blog and cv.

* I made the pharmacy site on iWeb because I had an existing site built and hosted by a site service group which didn't allow me to personally make changes to the site from my computer. I needed a site I could edit and post articles through directly and not through another party.

* I transferred the domain name of the old pharmacy site by changing the "CNAME" to make it my new mobile.me domain name. When I did this the original (non-iWeb) site was "attached/registered" to mobile me. Since then I have uploaded my NEW pharmacy site I have made on iWeb.

* Now the problem is, in search engines, the "old/original" site pages are still registering but are not visible and showing a "not found error" because I have uploaded the new iWeb site. This is misleading and searchers may be confused or think there is NO site if they find the mobile.me error messages for the original site. I hope this makes sense.

MY QUESTION IS .. How do I get rid of the original site from mobile.me so that search engines only register the new iWeb site?

* The original site is showing as http://www.domain.name.com.au/site/ and the new iWeb (preferred) site is showing as http://www.domain.name.com.au/site.name/Home.html .. So mobile.me has not disassociated the old site when it uploaded the new one. Does this make sense?

Thanks, Liz

Hi Liz,

go to your IDisk/Web/Sites/ folder and delete the old site.

Google needs two weeks or more until it shows everything in the correct way. There's nothing you can do about this except wait.

Regards,
Cédric

Thanks Cedric,

I can't remove the old site because I didn't make it and don't have it on my computer. It is somewhere or nowhere in cyberspace, (or stored on the creator's computer). I'll just have to be patient and wait for google to find all my pages.

I am also frustrated because now I can't post changes to my personal photo/blog/c.v. site as my domain name has changed to my business domain name. If I try to publish changes to my personal site mobile.me now wants to use my business URL now (which of course is not applicable to me personally).

And, I can't put either my business or personal sites under another a/c name, or on another computer with another a/c name, because mobile.me is not accepting new accounts due to their winding down process.

I guess I'll just have to get around to registering my own domain name and finding a host, which is preferable in any case.

Regards, and thanks again for you wonderful forum, Liz
