Hi,

I'm trying to add a facebook fanbox, which is basically a little widget that facebook provides to link to it's pages (not profiles, but artist pages that you can "become a fan" of.")

I'm using iTweak since I'm on iWeb '06 to replace the html code, but for some reason it won't display properly even though my other widgets (from different sites) are. I took a look at facebook's advanced options to see if I could find the problem but I can't figure it out. Maybe it has to do with iFrames? (they suggest that might be a problem) Here's the page: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Fan_Box. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Christin

Also, if this might help, here's the code that was generated:

<script src="http://static.ak.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php/en_US" type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript">FB.init("c2fb567ddc2920f9ec08d004012412de");</script><fb:fan profile_id="104454602726" stream="" connections="" width="300"></fb:fan><div style="font-size:8px; padding-left:10px"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kyle-Butler/104454602726">Kyle Butler</a> on Facebook</div>

Hi Christin,

I tried your code and as you can see here on my testing-website
http://alyeska.altervista.org/test/Blank_9.html
it works (iWeb'09 website, it works in HTML Snippets too which is kind of a miracle)

On the Facebook page they don't mention iFrame could be the problem. They mention iFrame could be the solution. You could try adding the following code instead of the one you used before:

<iframe scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="http://www.facebook.com/connect/connect.php?id=104454602726&connections=0&stream=0&css=PATH_TO_STYLE_SHEET"
allowtransparency="true" style="border: none; width: 300px; height: 65px;"></iframe><div style="font-size:11px; padding-left:10px"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kyle-Butler/104454602726">Kyle Butler</a> on Facebook</div>

Did you give it enough room on the page? You could also try using MassReplaceIt instead of iTweak on that page.

Regards,
Cédric

Thanks Cedric. I actually solved as you were posting that by doing exactly what you said. You're pretty helpful, you know.

I'm not always helpful but yes I guess I am deep in my soul...

You know... By being helpful you learn a lot of things... Most of my website is learning by doing. If someone asks a question I have to find an answer to it (that's brain-training by the way) and that's how I learn to do certain things myself.

I was always thinking about how to use Facebook to get more visitors to my website. Thanks to you I learned it :) just make a fan page! If "Whoever" gets to be a fan of it, "Whoever"'s friends see it and visit the website.

I really have no clue how Facebook works, how to build a page there and whatever. I know almost perfectly iWeb, WordPress, PhpBB and whatever but I don't understand Facebook at all... I will have to ask some friends... I don't like Facebook at all but I guess it's good for promoting (and that's the only use I will make of it).

Thanks and regards,
Cédric

This is the 3rd forum I've searched/joined for looking for help with the Facebook Fan box html. I've started developing a site and was ready to go live. I've published to my folder, and my Facebook html's (I have the News Feed on one page, and the Fans on a different page) render fine in Firefox but I'm only seeing a link to the Fan page in Facebook.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance...Love the site, btw

Um, no, I didn't follow your instructions (yet). Re-reading the thread (and sorry for jumping into the middle of it with my own version of the problem, btw) I don't see where you posted your "instructions" link. Maybe I missed it. Also, didn't see in any of the posts where anyone addressed the html working in Firefox and not Safari specifically. (And now I see, that in my excitement and haste that I did not clearly state that only Safari was having a problem.

I will try your code now.

Usually people find my website first and then come to the forum that's why you didn't find links to it if they have questions (because I suppose they've seen the site first) but it looks like you first found the forum.

Did it work?

I never experienced problems with Safari and Facebook so I don't know what could solve them. Maybe emptying the cache? I guess I can't help. Today I am experiencing A LOT of problems with Facebook in Safari and Facebook and it looks like Facebook itself is having issues.

Regards,
Cédric
