Hi Cédric,
alain from Belgium
I rent space at Host Excellence and I work with Cyberduck. (a big step forward). thank YOU
Of course I still have to deal with the company that manage my domain names. It seems to work a bit different this time.
I already configured all my URL’s in HE. So they gave me for each URL a new dedicated IP Adress: http:// (and some numbers). So my registrar’s site needs to be forwarded to the new host. Are these those new dedicated IP addresses (http:// + the numbers) HE gave me?
For one site it worked like this, BUT for the site I uploaded with Cyberduck each time I go to my site I get
Host Excellence
kristalan.com
is currently UNDER CONSTRUCTION
64.17.177.104

Is this normal? what can i do or something went wrong?
many thanks
Alain

That's because you still have the default HostExcellence index.html file on the site.

1. Connect to your server with Cyberduck
2. Open the folder called kristalan.com
3. Delete the index.html file you find in it
4. Upload the index.html file that gets created by iWeb along with the folder called with the name of the site in iWeb when publishing.

When I moved my websites to HostExcellence I asked them to transfer the domains to their place (their registrar instead of the registrar I used before) to have it all at one place. I think it's easier that way (but it takes about a week to complete the process).

Regards,
Cédric

but now there is only 1 index file left in the kristalan Folder (iweb upload).
If I remove this index file to the kristalan.com folder and I visite this URL I got a error 404 or something like that. When I move this index folder back to the kristalan(iweb upload) it is again what it looks like right now?
greetings
Alain

Publish the site to your desktop from iWeb.

You get a folder named "kristalan" and an index.html file that resides outside this folder.

You need to upload the index.html file that resides outside the folder into the "kristalan.com" folder (not the "kristalan" folder) you see when you connect to the server.

To get things done right.
Via cyberduck I went to my space and deleted the kristalan.com because maybe I messed up a few things. i read that you do this a every 4months.
But know to see my kristalan.com domain again and to upload the folder incl index HTML it seems te be a problem.
I went to HE and a see kristalan.com is still there but can not see this via cyberduck on the page to upload. o o

Oh Cédric I do aplogize for being so slow and again many thanks for your help. And yes again I will make sure you can have yourself a nice Pizza!

I don't delete the whole "kristalan.com" folder I only delete the index.html file it and the "kristalan" folder (hence I delete only the files made by iWeb, not the HE folders/files).

If you by accident delete the "kristalan.com" folder again (which you shouldn't do unless something gets messed up) and don't see it in Cyberduck anymore you just need to login into your account from http://manage.hostexcellence.com, under hosting products choose "manage" then "Domains" "Add new domain" and then enter the domain (kristalan.com), click Submit. It will then re-appear in Cyberduck.

-------------

as sent by e-mail...

It now looks like the index.html file is right but the problem is that it redirects to a page called Welkom.html and this page is not in the "kristalan" folder. In theory everything should work so you're on the right track. Unfortunately the theory is only theory yet.

I think you built the Welkom page, published the site, uploaded the index.html file but didn't update the rest.

I really would
1. Delete the index.html file from the server and the "kristalan" folder (not the "kristalan.com" folder!)
2. Publish from iWeb
3. Re-upload index.html file and "kristalan" folder

The site works but I guess it's half new half old that's why I'd suggest you to replace the index file and the folder.

Kind regards,
Cédric
