I am trying to insert an HTML snippet into my iWeb site (I am using iWeb 09). I create the snippet window in its required size, and insert the HTML code into the black dialog box. Nothing happens when I click "apply". Even though I click on the upload arrow, neither the desired fadeslideshow, nor even the empty snippet box, show up on the remote server after I upload the page. (Also, I have saved the image folder and the fadeslideshow.js to the server root.)
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi Wolf,

There's a simple test: If you try to enter the URL to one of your images into your browser

http://www.peterpatasi.com/fadeimages/comp1.jpg

You will get a Not found message meaning that you either didn't upload them, didn't upload them to the right location or entered a wrong URL in the code.

Regards,
Cédric

I am using this script, but it does not work because I don't have the correct URL for the folder/files on my ftp site.

My ISP advises the following: "You can access your control panel by using the link peterpatasi.com:2082. In the control panel you can see the filemanager you can click in it and you can see the fadeimages and all other folders in it."

What does that actually involve, in terms of spelling out the exact URL for the folder/files in question? You advice is appreciated!

Thanks

Wolf, Ottawa

further to my earlier email question:
I just received another piece of advice from my ISP:
"Hello Wolf,

The files you mentioned ("fadeimages"; fadeslideshow.js") is in your home directory like (/home/peterpat/<filename>) which is outside of your
public_html directory. You should move this into your public_html directory, ie it should be accessible at (/home/peterpat/public_html/<filename>) in-order to access the files http://www.peterpatasi.com/fadeimages/comp1.jpg

I hope this will help you. Please feel free to contact us for further assistance.

Regards,
Sergio"

This is contrary to your suggestion that these folders/files should be in the root directory of the server, not in the public_html folder.
Please advise!

Thanks, Wolf

My definition of root is that if you have a picture.jpg and it is accessible under http://yourdomain.com/picture.jpg the picture is uploaded to the root. So what I call the root in your case is the public_html folder.
Not all servers work alike so not all servers have a public_htrml folder.
However you should put these files in the public_html folder.

Cédric
