I think that a FAQ about the best ways/sites/programs etc. to promote your site so it becomes successful, known on the web etc. would be great.
Thanks Cedric

Hi Cri00!

I'm currently translating the website into italian and somewhen later in german as well... Which, believe me, is A LOT of work and also takes A LOT of time... I underestimated it...

Once I've finished translating it (somewhen mid or end september) I will think about the promotion and how to get the visitors on my site...

There are people posting links to the site as a reference on the Apple Discussion Forums
Some in the Macrumors.com forums
And Macitynet.it forum
Which I really appreciate...
Most people however come from Google.

These are the stats of the last seven days... Not too bad...

Image

Currently I'm pretty busy (also working on my other younger and still less successful, but with a huge potential, website musicwiki.info)
I'm just wanting too much at one time, my day should have 72 hours and that's only for my web-projects (not even mentioning the real life)... Everything is bigger than me right now...

However I'm interested in your inputs and would like you to develop them further.
I already have a Useful Applications page on the site but maybe it's not enough and you would like to see some reviews?
Also there are a lot of best ways FAQs (Navigation menu, Forums, Calendars, ...), please tell me what is still missing.

Thank you very much for the participation, I need all the help I can get so please keep it up ;)

As I already said I'm currently being REALLY busy... But as soon as I'll be less busy (unfortunately not too soon) I will have a look at all the possibilities to take the site to the next level...

To all the visitors and readers of this thread: I would really appreciate it if you would write all your ideas on how to get iwebfaq.org to the next level!
(What is still missing, How to promote the site, ...)

Thanks and kind regards,
Cédric

I know it takes a lot of time to make a site the way you would like but I'm sure it will end up great. After reaching the next level, you could make a FAW about how we, your visitors, can promote our sites the best way.

Cheers Cedric and good luck with your web project.
P.S Sorry but I don't speak italian :)

I can't imagine how much work it must have taken you to put up this website and the ebook! For the translation, being a translator, I know that it takes a lot of time and effort to try to find the right expression that fits the context.
The iwebfaq is extremely helpful, I'm trying to get the most out of it. I would have liked more information about how to get our website appear in the search engines. Not long ago I built a forum and registered it in Google. After a month or less, I started having Yahoo robots in my forum, then Google and now whenever I type something related to my forum, it appears on top of Google first page. What I did is simply adding contents and it worked. Now I don't know whether the same applies for iweb. I don't know how to find out whether Google or any other robot is in my website. I would have appreciated more information about that.

Maybe you just have to read what I wrote about it. I think I have the most complete FAQ about Google on the web.

I explain the whole process of getting on Google on both my website and my e-book. Step by step. I wrote that the most important thing is the content. I wrote that you can see whether the website is indexed on Google or not by typing

site:YourURL

into the Google search field. And a lot more.

If you want to see if there is a Google crawler/bot/robot on your website you have to track your visitor's activity (Statcounter). Google appears as a visitor called "Google crawler" or similar. How to track you visitor's activity is described on website and e-book as well.

However with

site:YourURL

you already know whether your site is visited by Google or not. If it is indexed then your site is also visoted. The "Google" or "Yahoo" appearing on your forum is nothing else than visitor's activity. I personally never search for Google in my visitor's activity. As long as it's indexed I'm happy.

Sorry but there really is nothing more I could write about Google. Not to me. Otherwise you have to be much more precise on what is missing. To me I wrote everything. I can't write how Google works since NOBODY knows it for sure.

Even though this was posted a long time ago, I'd like to say that your page on Google is nothing short of marvelous. The best and most informative on the web.

Thanks Cedric!
